You need to see this one! In this "Meet the Team" interview, the new owner and president of enCOMPASS Agency, Drew Ryan, answers a set of questions created just for him. Learn why he was interested in owning enCOMPASS and how he plans to maintain our agency’s reputation.

You recently became the owner and president of enCOMPASS. What interested you in the business?

My initial interest in enCOMPASS had nothing to do with the business itself but was actually the reputation of the Schroeder family. The Schroeder’s had been family acquaintances of mine for over 10 years with many friends and families running in similar circles. The Schroeder’s reputation was a family known for being fun, kind, generous, and overall wonderful people. When I initially met with Jennifer to learn more about the specifics of enCOMPASS, I fell in love with the opportunity. Jerry and Jennifer had built a business centered on people with the highest levels of integrity. enCOMPASS’ core values of Passionate, Trustworthy, Intelligent, Accessible, and Grateful were more than words on a website… they were believed and practiced by all the employees. In addition to the people, enCOMPASS provided services for their clients with a proven track record of success and true unique differentiators in the market (shoutout to the IMI Dashboard and our proprietary software that outperforms Google Ads)! The business had an incredible foundation (people, products, and processes) and was primed for growth.

What are your primary goals as the new owner?

My primary goal as the new owner of enCOMPASS is to honor Jerry’s legacy by maintaining the company culture he built while leading our business to new heights. I’m passionate about scaling business and will lead that effort for both enCOMPASS and our clients.

How do you see your previous experiences contributing to enCOMPASS?

I come from a completely different industry (manufacturing) and while there is so much to learn, many of the experiences and lessons I’ve learned in my previous roles carry over into my new role as Owner and President of enCOMPASS. Servant leadership, hard work, culture, and setting an example through your actions are what motivates employees to perform at their best. Making sure each individual within the team is passionate about their role, competent in their assignments, and believes in the mission of the company leads to a fun working environment that produces tremendous outcomes.

How do you plan to maintain the agency’s reputation?

In an industry where there is skepticism around agencies, enCOMPASS is known for its integrity and results. I will maintain the highest standards of integrity, culture, and transparency. We will do what is right for the employees and clients with an emphasis on true partnerships. Doing what is right will always be more important than short-term profits. I will listen well and lead with humility and passion.

Digital marketing is amazing. Why do you love it?

What’s not to love?!? Digital Marketing gives us the ability to directly impact the revenue growth of our clients. Digital Marketing allows us to create winning strategies that produce prosperity for our clients, their employees, and their communities. Doing Great Work That Makes A Difference is our mission statement for a reason. The difference that we make is a quantifiable increase in our client's revenue, and we get to do that day in and day out. And there aren’t many industries that can say that!

Let's switch to a personal topic! Describe your “perfect weekend day.”

I’d love to start my day early with some sort of athletic activity. These days I am shamelessly part of the pickleball craze. After burning a bunch of calories I’d love to replace them with a family trip to McDonalds for lunch. The dollar doesn’t go as far as it used to, but the McDouble still has my heart. Once the family is full and satisfied, we head to Lake Norman to cruise the lake, go tubing, and stop at a beach to hang out and play KanJam. After several hours on the lake, we would head home for pizza (Ledos Pizza for those in MD or Jets Pizza for those in NC). To wrap up my ideal day, my wife and I would host another couple in our backyard for a firepit and a few glasses of Angel’s Envy bourbon.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

A fun fact about me is that in 2012, I interviewed with Jerry Schroeder to come work at enCOMPASS! Jerry must not have been too impressed because it was a one-and-done interview. Jennifer now claims it was because he couldn’t afford me, but I was cheap back then!
